The Alcohol Statistics UK which refer to the amount of problem drinking which goes on in British society, does not look good. The trend is definitely on the up for both illegal drugs and legal booze, and perhaps more alarming is the age in which kids are picking up for the first time. Mid teens and even pre-teens now are reported as hitting the bottle and becoming out of control. As if adolescence is not a troubled enough time as it is for some parents and kids, when drink and drugs are thrown into the equation, then we have a recipe from hell. But what, if anything can be done to halt this upward trend? Is society really crumbling? Are today’s parents no longer able to manage their own kids, or are the issues much deeper and more complicated than that of home discipline?
