Ok, so you’ve managed to Lose 10 Pounds. 10 Days Later you’ve Gained it Back again, and in some cases a few extra pounds on top. Why is this? Well, the body gets confused. First it suddenly has a reduction in food intake and calories, then when you give up and go back to your old eating habits, the body panics (for want of a better word), and clings onto all the new fats and stores them for fear that there will be no more again soon. Yoyo dieting, as it’s called, it bad for the body and the mind. If done on a regular basis, as is the case with a dieter who jumps from one fad diet to the next, the body has no routine and doesn’t know what to expect with regards to nutrition, carbs, fats, calories, minerals and general nutritional intake. So both the body and the mind get off balance, and that can cause sleeplessness, mood swings, and a body that gets fatter, not thinner over time as a direct result of unpredictable eating patterns.
